Choosing an appropriate domain name for your website is no mean feat in today's competitive internet world.  To make matters worse, you need to carefully consider several factors besides just having a short and catchy name.

With regards to search engine optimization (SEO), there is really only one thing to consider;  the domain name should contain one or more of the top search terms you want high rankings for.  Having a url that contains your search terms will have two positive effects.  Onsite, search engines will rank search terms higher if the url on your website pages matches those terms.  Offsite, backlinks to your site that contain related search terms in the anchor text will be ranked as higher quality.

Other things to consider are of course, a name that's as short as possible, that's easy read & type, and easy to remember.  Also paramount, is that the name must be meaningful to your business.
